I thought I bought a Goto mount last year when I purchased my Losmandy Titan.
What I got was a good quality regular mount, IE, it will track in RA but the motors cannot handle the load for Goto, especially in cold weather (the aluminum worm blocks contract in the cold, part of the fix is to replace them with stainless steel, as well as changing the gear ratio on the motors so they will have double the torque, which also requires changing the chip in the Gemini hand paddle. I continue to grow increasingly disappointed that nothing has been done to correct the problem. I understand that the new Titan mounts are being shipped out with the fix, why can't I get mine fixed it after having owned it for a year? I have asked Losmandy repeateldy if I could have it fixed since last February, and have been told basically that it would take "2 more weeks" every time that I have asked. Now it was 10 degrees here last night, so I can basically kiss the Goto function goodbye. So why did I have to pay for the Gemini Goto system when I still can't use it? I am extremely pleased with my new TEC 200 APO, but the Losmandy Titan mount and the "after the sale" service have so far left much to be desired. I am beginning to think that I may have made a bad choice. rat ~( ); email: remove 'et' from .com(et) in above email address |
