Bert,
As a last ditch measure to eliminate spam (even before this
latest 'virus' showed up), I did this: Create a second account to use
for all private e-mail. Just let let the primary account fill up. Mine
is full, with 428 junk e-mails, so it now blocks any more. But let all
your regular correspondants know you new addy. See the way I fixed mine

Unfortuneately you didn't go far enough. Your "real" address
still appears in the From: line of your USNET posts. That's where
this latest nuisance is grabbing addy's to send copies of
the virus disguised as email from a variety of sources.

Make sure your newsreader is "free" of all your real
account info....

Well it seems OK so far. The private addy is still completely clean.

I made a few message rules in Outlook Express and I'm not bothered at all
now. The messages are deleted from my server.

I'm trying to do that in Outlook Express, but whenever I create a new rule
the first line is "Apply after messages are received". By then it's too
late to prevent downloading. I can't seem to get rid of this. How did you
do it?
