QRT is an amateur radio term used to indicate that a station is not
transmitting, or is off the air. The CB'ers also use the term when
operating SSB.

Well, the other shoe dropped yesterday, my main computer crashed and
now I'm trying to save files off of it in windoz safe mode before I
take it in someplace to have windozs fixed and reinstalled. I'm on my
back up machine now and that's a battle in itself.

But at lest I don't have to walk anymore.

Default Windoz Dead

I had Windoz 98 2nd e. what happened I got a program that was made to
clear up the regestry and clean out the odd bit's of left over deleted
files. Oh it did it, only it wiped out files that where not only
shared files but ones that windoz needed. Ended up with a dialog box
during bootup. I got a 98 cd rom from the guy next door and I pulled
out my 98 floppy boot disk, was doing fine, used the boot disk to boot
up with cd rom access and re installed windoz, during the deal it
reworte the floppy too, now the floopy runs to a point and hangs up
the rest of the boot. and that dilog is still there.

So I have been digging around and finding floopys with room and saving
text and jps and will get more from wal-mart and clean out the hard
drive of all but the system files. I can get into safe mode but no cd
rom access. I was going to look for my back up cd roms I made last
month, but no access killed that.

Thankfully I had this old 233 mmx packard bell backup machine and am
using it. Oh ya the dll's missing and from what I've found some other
files killed explorer on the machine.

I'm going to see if I can get my Atari TT030 back online this next
month.

Commiserations. Why not get a second harddisk and copy the whole thing
lock stock and barrel over to it with Norton Ghost or even just XCOPY ?

Much less hassle.
