Considering that it is easier to work with the Earth's heliocentirc
motin as compounded with the motion of the solar system in one direction around the galactic axis thereby influencing orbital geometry towards Keplerian motion, the issue of priority for the ballistic agenda applied to planetary motion now looks similar to giving praise for the discovery of epicycles. It all ties together with Flamsteed yet few would have the neccessary technical competence to see how the double whammy of Flamsteed's original misconduct and its transfer to Newton's quasi-geocentric orbital equivalency makes for incredible reading, mangling as it does just about every astronomical principle known up to then - http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/nk/newton-gravity.htm The gift of astronomy is just about as precious as it comes and even if Newton/Flamsteed were consistent with their misconduct and misjudgements, few today could appreceate exactly how it all unravels from the view of Copernican heliocentricity and its later refinements. Why you believe in the stuff you do when the actual astronomical insights are spectacular and productive is that part I do not understand,I even make way for the guys in the U.K. to have a crack at restoring some dignity to an astronomical discipline that now exists in tatters. William Blake was right,as an Englishman he seen the impending empirical wasteland for such is the condition today in this astrological chat room- http://www.wga.hu/art/b/blake/02newton.jpg Let's see if the astronomers can do this year what their colleagues in the medical proffession do openly for humanity likes nothing more than to see that conceptual insincerity has no room to thrive under a noble inheritance. |

Happy New Year to all from Denis, who is now tired and emotional, having consumed an excess of Newcastle Brown ale, in an
attempt to achieve a world record in pupil dilation %-) My pupils are huge. Notoriously so. My sister also has somewhat large pupils, but I think not quite as big as mine. I always get the worst red-eye in flash photos. So does this mean my retinae are comparatively insensitive? I don't think so, but I wonder whether there's a reason for such excessive dilation in lowish- light environments. Anyway I rather like that I have big pupils, because people with very small ones, especially those with very pale blue irises, really scare the bejeesus out of me!
