Dear Friends,

I was wondering if anyone here has done any imaging of binary star systems
and, if possible, multi-coloured systems?

I did some imaging last night and a couple of preliminary results (more
due shortly) are the following:

http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Star-Bin-Cyg-Beta.htm
http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Star-Bin-Cyg-31.htm

I am both curious and interested to see how these compare to other efforts
both for my education and technique.

I have to confess that I need to calibrate my CCD camera against a white
reference star so as to make sure the RGB combine step is as accurate as
possible.

Thanks!

Anthony.

"skillet"? Is that a frying pan in English? I've never been sure.

Antoni,

The imaging of binaries I have seen the last year, leave a lot to be
desired.
Here is one for Antares, which I consider to be among the best:

http://www.iteastronomy.com/noflash.php?goto=21

One year ago there was a fantastic pic of Antares which I found through
Google images, but I suspect it was a film photo. It showed perfect first
order diffraction rings on the main star and both objects were perfectly
circular.

Perhaps imaging with a CCD cannot provide for very accurate images in the
case of stars, because of flaring. None of the images I've seen so far from
CCD's satisfy me as much as the older film images with diffraction rings.

I certainly hope to be proven wrong. If anyone has better pics, I would love
to see them.

Happy observing :-)
