The Lightning is a gas sucker!
I get around 9mpg in the city, once the engine breaks in i should get
12.5mpg.

Why are you driving an econo-box like this one. Get a real hot rod. My son's
70 Mustang Fastback with the built 460 gets 5 mpg but goes.

Default Close call but no deal UPDATE

I've sent 2 e-mails to the guy, have not heard back from him yet, did tell him
that if he agreed to my offer of putting down 200 now and paying the rest within
10 days, he'd have to drive the truck up to Rosamond first so I could check it
out both by sight and by test drive.

In the mean time, I'm still watching the online ads for around the av area and
the threw-away papers that come in the mail too. Going to the bank today and
also grab a new pair of shoes while up there.

Do you use a star atlas, and if so, what kind?

Well, for the Sidewalk Astronomy, I don't as I just aim at the moon, planets that
are in the sky at the time, for my own viewing, I've got the Edmonds atlas, and
ofcourse I use the center section of the Astronomy magazine too as I pick it up
at the store each month.
I also have 3 free softwares on this intel box and also a good one over on my
Atari TT030

With about a $1000 in mods, i can get 430 RWHP! If i really wanted i can get
my
motor custom built, a after market super charger, and get around 650 HP, that
would cost around $10,000.

I am in same boat as you are, I also drive an econo box, I could hot rod it,
but why? The mileage would decrease and it would be less reliable.

650HP? Is that ALL? I'd go for a NACAR, 2,000HP and 200MPH.

Me thinks we're adrift here.

That sounds like you've got your bases pretty well covered.

Do you like the Sky Atlas 2000, and if so, which version do you like best,
the white stars/black background or the blacks stars/white background?

I like the latter, but many seem to prefer the former, as it is just as the
sky itself.

Software wise, the one I use the most is Cartes Du Ciel, then I have Virtua
Moon, Star Calc, and Freestar. I once had the 30day demo of Starry Night but
couldn't aford it then, so just wiped it out. I also use my Atari Software too.

That S.A.2000, I don't think I've ever seen it.

Really? Have you ever taken it to a drag strip? Or are you just
parroting Ford's ad hype? Can you provide a link to any such claims?
I have my doubts, very large doubts. I had a '68 Dodge, 383ci with
two four-barrels that struggled to get into the 12's, and that was
with sticky tires and a limited-slip differential. The only way I can
see a street-legal, much less *stock* pick-up doing 13.2 is with a 100
mph wind behind it, or a jet engine in the bed.

But even if it could, it would still be dead-dog-slow, to me.

One of my street bikes went 10.15sec @146mph in the quarter at
Edgewater Raceway, with a 210 pound rider, plus leathers, helmet, etc.
(me). That's zero to 140 in under ten seconds. How much would you
have to spend to match that? I have at least one faster bike that
I've never taken to the strip, and it gets 42 mpg average.

You could probably beat my dumptruck, though. Maybe not if we were
both pulling 12,000 pound loads...

speedy boxes)
