Turning ships around requires dedication in the engine room, not beer and skittles, deck quoits, and high life at the captain's table. Living the Life o' Reilly and shagging the **** out of each other behind lifeboats might seem cool, but the other side of that coin means going down with the ship. I don't know about coal, but folks of stone - and all at sea - don't rate much of a chance in the face of cool wind of change. Yes/ no? I'd say you don't get out at all. Probably a good thing, too. |

I bet there are more than a few others too, willing to tatt their stat. and flash a pinned navel - geologically speaking. Don't know if they're prepared to take it as far as in-your-face mooning (geologically speaking). Yet. But they will. You watch. Folks go to great lengths to keep up with crowds. Plate tectonics chaws on doubledumb. Comment that one around. |

Not sure what you're picking up out of those links (or from your elementary book), but "Plate" = "Continent" is (by definition of plate separation) a Pangaean necessity. I can't think of any textbooks (elementary or otherwise) that draw attention to it. Nor (other than Carey) to the implication of continental shrinkage (or along-ridge extension) that follow from it. How (in plate tectonics' funny book of convection) **do** plate margins grow *along their length as well as across them? Pray do tell. "Duelling propagators? ...or?? |
