You know who cares, who really gives a damn that some over paid yuppy creep
just received his new 3" APO on an alt aaz mount of a 14" SCT and then
asks whats good to look at with the scope. I mean who gives rats ass.
That's one of the problems with the whole amateur astronomy world, there
are too damn many AMATEURS. It used to be that it took some skill to use a
scope, you learned the night sky, you star hopped you figured out where
your ass was and you didn't need both hands and a government agency to tell
you where it was.
Now we have any silly **** with a few bucks to burn out there buying these
new GOTo scopes , scopes mind you that are at best a work in progress or
like the MEADE LXD absolute complete ****.
So the get the damn scope, think that have the thing put together, give the
god damn thing some idiot name and drag the 90lb pile of junk outside and
try and figure out which end is up. Well ****.

I agree with this part. Too many new amateurs
are just "appliance operators."

to you, below.)

By-Tor and similar yoyo's hand-crafted all of their optical equipment
from raw silicon, oxygen, aluminum, iron and other atoms. Each and
every one of them meticulously placed with the utmost care that only a
True Astronomer can illicit from the otherwise Faulted Human Form.
That all mechanical conveniences were shunned in these efforts only
magnifies the True Nobility and the Purest of Hearts that they must
surely possess. Who else but these people have memorized the entire
contents of the BD, DM, FK5, Messier and NGC catalogs? Religious
fanatics world wide who memorize the Quaran, the Talmud, or the full
text of the Lord of the Rings hang their heads in utter shame in
comparison to these people.

(There is a related group in the amateur radio crowd as well. These
people are so good at it they hardly need radios at all -- they can
directly integrate Maxwell's equations in their heads in real time.
Curiously, these people even refer to those who are not as capable (or
perhaps choose not to be as capable) as "appliance operators".
Perhaps By-Tor is the rarest-of-the-rare?)

My goodness, you people must be a blast to be around!

Those wimpy halflings who can only pick up a phone, recite a credit
card number, and accept delivery are little more than heaps of dung in
the the view of the Perfect Astronomer. That these same individuals
use the disgusting intellectual crutches of a computer and some
stepper motors to point their telescopes presents the True Astronomer
with a malodourous, rank reek of galactic scale. Trust me, none of
them would be able to tolerate our imperfect presence for more than a
millisecond (if that).

This leaves only one lingering question: why do they reduce
themselves so by posting into sci.astro.amateur? Are not their own
manifest glories enough for them?

div E = 4 pi rho
div B = 0
curl E = -1/c x dB/dt
curl B = 1/c x dE/dt + 4 pi/c J

rho=charge density
J=current density

Curiously, these people even refer to those who are not as capable (or

As a matter of fact, I have an amateur radio license.
That's where I got the phrase from.
Bwahahahahahaha.

Seriously, I'm really sorry about the top posting. No excuses, it was
thoughtless and rude of me. It will NEVER happen again. Otherwise, I am a
decent person - really:-)

Just don't do it again! :-)

Seriously, post however you want. Bottom posting is harder to read and is
only beneficial for archiving purposes.
