Default Hermes Found 66 Years Later - Long-Lost Object Is A Bright Binary

Sorry this took me so long, I had trouble finding the book I had in mind.

New York Times 12/09/1929 III reports a meteor hitting a bridal party
and killing 1 in Zvezvan Yugoslavia.

09/14/1511 Monk, several birds and a sheep killed in Cremona, Lombardy,
Italy, reportedly by falling stones.

The above come from Chapter 13 of _Rain of Iron and Ice_ by John S.
Lewis. Chapter 13 is a list of newspaper and other accounts of meteorite
strikes Lewis has collected. Most of the stories recall near misses but
there are a few where meteorites were blamed for human or animal death
and property destruction.

Interesting; hadn't heard of that one, and it's vaguely contemperanous
with the "meteorite kills dog" one in Egypt IIRC. Wonder why it doesn't
make the common accounts?

Yeah, this is the sort of one I have problems with, but...

Thanks, I'll look into it; any field of historical astronomy is a good
one.

Hmm... would you reckon the book was worth about fifteen dollars? Amazon
reviews seem positive, may as well pour yet more money away... ;-)
