Anacortes telescope says they are "redesigning" the PST.
Other sites like markus' don't even mention them any more.
They kept people waiting 2 years for their first filters, including me, and
never produced the filters they were taking down payments for. They
"redesigned" them and increased the price. I hope you didn't give them any
money.

your warning about giving them money... Are you saying that they never
delivered and kept the downpayments?

In my case after 8 months of them telling me it would ship next week (they
even told me it was "in the shipping department") and ignoring my refund
requests I got my money back by going through American Express and having
them start an investigation. Then I got my money back. Some people rolled
over because they had waited 2 years and they paid more money for the
"redesigned" filters, some people accepted "similar" filters. No one
received the filters or prices that were advertised in S&T for 18 months
because they never even manufactured those filters. They used the money for
development and to tour the world with a couple prototypes drumming up more
down payments.

At the Astronomical league convention Lunt was scheduled to give a lecture
on the filter design but didn't show up. He was in the sales area raking in
down payments. At least they are consistent

Even the Coronado mouthpiece in this group is double talking you. Oh, "you
have to check with your dealer" he says. What kind of B.S. is that. Maybe
they WILL ship this week, only 7 months after they promised them this time.

Jim Kendrick will no longer deal with them. Kendrick now sells a far
superior filter (for more money) made by the original etalon manufacturers
in the Isle of man. They are thicker, with higher tolerances and no central
obstruction.

He says a lot of things. Plenty of people do in this newsgroup. Check
out Dale's "points" and ask yourself what motivates him.

Stay tuned but I don't think Dale has shipped a single product. He's
filled some holes to be sure but I've sat on a latrine or two in my
time- I prefer to perch. Swim with him if you want to.

An Orion EQ-1 is plenty enough mount for visual use and likely afocal
imaging with a compact digital camera. The drives don't offer a
siderial rate so you'll have to adjust the pointing over time. If you
have photo tripod you might want to look into the Min-EQ as I believe
it provides for mounting the head via a 1/4X20 tapped hole but I
suggest a call to Orion to confirm. That way you could go with the
camera tripod alone for quick looks- the more you look, the more you
see.

We'll have an alt-az mount named MALTA along the same lines if you
don't need tracking. It will be a bit more pricey though.

Thanks Bill,

I'm planning to use a NexStar 80GT mount with a Baader Bracket. Works fine
for my Ranger. Should be fine for a PST.
