You could write a book on this subject, but here's the short and much
distilled answer to your question... There are several nebula types, requiring more than one filter to see all of them under ideal conditions. The largest number of nebula which many of us view come under the heading of emission nebula. It's my experience that the Orion UltraBlock and/or the O111 are about the best for viewing this type of nebula. I would suggest that you start with one of these filters. One other caution: Best viewing results come under dark skies during periods of a tranquil atmosphere. If you are viewing under light polluted skies, this type of filter offers little if any help.
