Bible scholars (is that an oxymoron?) seem to agree that life is unique to the Earth. Of course, they also believe the earth is 6000 years old and that it's the center of the universe. There's never a shortage of people who feel no constraint at all against posting a piece of complete nonsense, yet doing so with all the confidence and self assurance as if stating absolute fact. -- owl - '98 FLTRI - The Good Wife tuna - '98 T409 EN - The Harlot "If you get to it, and you can't do it? hot - '83 GR650 There you jolly well are, aren't you!" mail - '57 6T Richard, Lord Buckley, "Jonah and the Whale" |

Laura,
Ooops, sorry, you goofed! ![]() That should be some idiot "Creationist" Bible Scholars believe the Earth is 6000 years old. Sorry, I'm Catholic and no priest or nun ever told me that the Earth is 6,000 years old. Some "Christians" in their race to be farthest away from the Catholic Church.....make up their own stories! Best wishes, Ed |

The religious doctrines are created by the 'Cardinals' and 'Bishops', etc. (the priest class), and the ordinary 'dumbed down' lay folks are supposed to accept 'by faith' whatever they are told. What a scam! That's why I always say... Down with 'the blind' religiously leading 'the blind' down into darkness! Long live the clear light of reason, and freedom from false religions. I should have been more specific :-) I know that not all christians are in the dark ages. I was referring to the bible-belt creationist types. I seem to be missing the quantifiers in the posting on my ng server, maybe they got omitted when your posting got transferred across the net. Did your original posting say "Some Bible scholars"? And in the case of your last fact(oid) (= that "they" believe it is the center of the universe), did you perhaps say "some Bible scholars who have been dead for 500 years"? For that matter, I've never heard any Bible scholar express the opinion that life was unique to Earth, although I've heard some say that perhaps the opposite is true. ("Perhaps", because they didn't want to be dogmatic.) But maybe you limit your input from Bible scholars to late night TV. Mike McSwell |
