JPL just reported that MER1 has a "serious anomaly." It hasn't communicated
properly since yesterday morning. An MGS pass last night PST got some signal from the UHF, but the data was random 1's nad 0's. Just at the very end of the press briefing they reported tentatively that the DSN had picked up a status signal from the rover that it was in "fault" mode. If true, it's good that it isn't totally kaput, but doesn't sound good. |
