"Most of the time we don't know squat about why we do the things we do," observes Dannie Faber, narrator of Anne Bernays' unusual new novel, "Trophy House." This latest offering from Bernays, author of "Professor Romeo" and "Growing Up Rich," defies type. At times, it seems like just another beach read - long on clich=E9s, short on plot. But just when you want to get out a red pen and start circling, you discover Bernays is a tease. She's "clich=E9-dropping" on purpose. Or rather, her narrator is.
