According to a Professor who helped take care of the recent Tsunami victims the infected living could pose a more disease spreading danger potential then the New Orleans area Gulf dead. The next question is if they are aware of that why is it that they haven't medically quarantined those poor folks until they can be checked out or treated to make sure they don't contaminate the Nation rest. It would seem prudent if they are aware of the danger to protective quarantine and medically observe or treat then to just give them bus and plane tickets to far inland destinations to only complicate the danger. No one wants to see folks have to stay in protective shelters for any unnecessary length of time, but per experienced Professor Garfield the danger is there. Even Astronauts have to be quarantined when returning from space just as a precaution. See: http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/ns/news/...50831L ADM125 And what about the thousands that don't want to leave, now living in flooded toxic polluted waters with mosquito season upon them? A whole host of diseases could spring up the likes of which never imagined in modern times. What with floating bodies, dead or dying pets, toxic industrial chemicals, complete flooded sewer systems, dangerous medical waste including HIV, freely traveling snakes, possible rabid animals including gators, a prescription for possible wide disease spreading catastrophe. If nature hell happens it should be our job to hopefully contain it, and protect all from its possible further deadly consequences. In our rush to help Katrina victims we must never forget to protect the folks they are all rushing too as well. Oh the humanity, perhaps the death toll from contamination and spreading disease may be greater in the coming months then initial disaster itself. carry on, the nightbat |
