May I recommend the top of Bleaklow or Kinder Scout (both 3 km from the
nearest road) for the darkest skies. Getting there should be no
problem
as they are on the Pennine Way ;-)

Dave, leave it out!! ) I don't think anybody would want to lug any
amount of astro gear up the side of Kinder or onto Bleaklow... I have a
VERY good knowledge of the topography round there and I wouldn't want to lug
my gear on to the tops !!

Now saying that.... there's Coopers Campsite in Edale which is rather
big..... BUT it dosn't have electric hook up as far as I can remember...
I was there last about 2 1/2 years ago...

There are two good pubs in the village (which is a very dark village at
night) and wash rooms.... but i'm not sure where we could have speakers
(apart from the local village church OR the rangers station at the end of
the village)..... should I be able to get any.....

Anyway.... I (for health and safety reasons alone) am ruling out the top of
Kinder and Bleaklow.. )

Cheers for the chuckle it gave me anyhow ) ROFL
