Approximately 9:40pm 02/24/02 Eastern time while looking at Jupiter I
seen a tiny black dot run across the disc of Jupiter. It took a total of maybe 3/4 to a full second to do this. The size of this thing relating it to what I seen on the planet would be about 1/4 to 1/2 of a band on Jupiter. I had just finished a roll of Film on M42 and a roll of Jupiter and decided to just to a little gazing. After maybe a minute of gazing letting my eye catch as much detail as it could I seen this dot run from the eye piece right side to the left side.. South to North visually. Just after seeing this thing and taking a second to say "WOW" I looked at the clock, 9:41pm (cheap radio synched digital wall clock). Meade 8" LX90 SCT Scope - Orion shorty 2x barlow - 18mmSWA. Perfectly Clear skies.. 11*f - 59% humidity Seeing - 9/10 Trans. - 10/10 In my Observatory 42*N - 77*W -- Michael A. Barlow |
