On the DVD, the first two of the three TV transmissions from Apollo 11
on the way to the moon are listed as "unscheduled". Were they broadcast at the time? (There's no commentary by the astronauts as they usually did when the signal was going out to the world.) --- Replace you know what by j to email |

Generally they were used just for TV systems checkout, which only required the crew to turn the cameras on and let Mission Control check the feed conditions while the crew continued on with whatever tasks were skedded for that time. I haven't found any information yet(*) as to what scheduling criteria was used to determine when to "schedule" an "unscheduled" transmission, but hopefully if Sy or Jack are still lurking out there and haven't been chased off by all the Bbo Hallr crap or the latest infestation from the Guthball crowd, they can clarify this a bit. They had to provide proof of insurance if they wanted to take the collision waiver. --- Replace you know what by j to email |
