Falsifying Plate Tectonics.
Watch this space.
Strike 1. (coming up) No mechanism.

I know properly this should belong in sci.geo.geology, but the best
they can do over there is show each other pebbles they collected at the
weekend, ..and swap stories about walks and pictures they took, so I'm
looking to broaden the reach. Bob Grumbine says there are people in
talk.o who know some geology, and I think the point should be of
interest to physics since if Plate Tectonics doesn't work, then what
does?

Repeat:- This thread is about how to falsify Plate Tectonics: No
sidetracks please.

Science is about proving testable ideas and concepts.

Why don't you buy a book or two, do some reading and actually try
working stuff out for yourself. I already recommended you a book, by a
first year UG Earth Scientist who understands the process.

You've been thoroughly spnaked by geologists and physicists alike.
Perhaps try another science - chemistry?

Just like the cranky anti-relativists, who equate a lack of
understanding with the idea that GR and SR is wrong.

I surmise that what you are trying falls under Relf's law:
"Bull**** repeated to the limit of infinity asymptotically approaches
the odour of roses."

With the corollary.

"The approach to infinity can be binomially approximated by a time
inversely proportional to the depth of knowledge of the subject matter
the repeater has."

The greatest enemy of science is pseudoscience.

Jaffa cakes. Sweet delicious orangey jaffa goodness, and an abject lesson why
parroting information from the web will not teach you cosmology.

Official emperor of sci.physics. Please pay no attention to my butt poking
forward, it is expanding.

Relf's Law?
"Bull**** repeated to the limit of infinity asymptotically approaches
the odour of roses."

Why are you posting this to talk.origins? Wouldn't alt.usenet-kook be a
better choice?

Like most kooks, he is incapable of understanding the differences
between geology, physics, chemistry, biology, and pastry baking.

Does the puppy blood come with a twist of lemon? We Wergnerians like lemon
in our puppy blood, y' know.

For the past twelve minutes I have been contemplating the above
assertion and comparing it to various other cult beliefs and behavior.
The ability to believe that which is absurd and observed to be false
appears to be systemic among a large portion of the human population;
yet the ability to reject that which is obvious, observed to be true,
and well-understood (such as plate tectonics being driven by
convection) seems to be a trait that even more people are afflicted
with.

Both traits working together generate a smug feeling of superiority
within the hewads of the afflicted. This in turn releases dopamine in
the afflicted brains, generating a reward that conditions and programs
the afflicted brains to continue that behavior. Criticism is seen as
merely a political power struggle from the "entrenched elite" to take
away from the afflicted that dopamine reward.

Thus we see homeopathy, astrology, Scientology, iridology, palmistry,
psychometry, dowsing, pseudo-conservatism, etc. It all appears to
generate a sense of "I'm smarter than the better-educated but deluded
and lying scientists" and produces "warm fuzzies." Don Findlay here
appears to be an excellent example.

Unfortunately for you, most of us know enough geology to know that
plate tectonics *does* work.

GPS still shows that you're clueless, whether you want to hear that
particular argument or not.

If walking on water doesn't work, then what does?
