m82 the cigar galaxy
I figured out why m82 is shaped like a cigar. The reason is that
intelligent life, similar to us, built space stations and continued to do so turning a spiral galaxy to a cigar shaped galaxy. People, we are not alone. jon toronto, earth

I'm guessing it's a joke.
I don't forsee any time in humanity's future where we have the power to form galaxies. It's pretty much an absolute impossibility.
