Default Ferry flight tailcone question

All the posts about the SCA got me thinking about the tailcone they
attach to the orbiters when they're being ferried by the SCA.

Is it stored at KSC until it's needed to ferry an orbiter back to
Florida? How is it transported? Is it shipped on a cargo plane or can
the SCA accomodate it somehow sans orbiter?

There's this big, empty space inside the SCA...

I understand the cone folds somehow so it can be carried inside, I'd
guess in the cargo hold as the hatches tend to be bigger.

The tail cone is in two part (uper and low). It can be packed into crates
and trucked to wherever it is needed after the orbiter lands by C5A or C17
aircraft.
