Orbiter Atlantis has begun the slow and painstaking move out of its orbiter
processing facility. Its roll to the Vehicle Assembly Building should take
about 45 minutes.

Atlantis is safely in the transfer aisle inside the Vehicle Assembly
Building. Atlantis will be on standby in case NASA must launch a rescue
mission if Discovery and its crew gets into some trouble on the first
post-Columbia mission.

Atlantis rolled over from the hangar just before 10 a.m. this morning, a
couple days behind schedule but still with more than a week of padding in
order to meet the deadline for a rescue launch if that becomes necessary.

Atlantis will be mated later today - if all continues well - to a stack of
solid rocket boosters and an external fuel tank atop a mobile launcher
platform. If there is no rescue mission, Atlantis will fly the second
post-Columbia test flight in September.
