Default [FWD] Ozzies warned about Killer Kangaroos

....Ok, I think we know what's been keeping our Australian contingent
busy of late:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapc...eut/index.html

....Someone tell Wigg to quit with those goofy breeding experiments.

From that page...
He said most of the behavioral change in the usually
placid animals was due to the scarcity of feed after
a run of dry years in Canberra, the inland bush
capital, as Australia battles its worst drought in a
century.

Fair dinkum, we're all on walkabout searching for water to keep the roos
happy. At 50 million roos, we all have nearly 3 each to look after! Even
Beady only had one cow

This is hilarious. It's got an urban legend smell to it though.

Mm, so it's partly true. Has anyone here heard of the Emu Wars or the
****-funny newsreels that brought them to cinemas all over Australia in the
days before TV?

In 1932 the emu population was getting out of control, so the army was sent
in with machine guns and cannon to try to 'thin out the numbers'. From then
until the mid-'60s the govt would occasionally call the troops out on the
emus.

It's rubbish and very delayed - this attack happened over twelve months ago.
Kangaroos will attack at _any_ time they feel threatened. This woman's dog
was attacking the 'roo and the 'roo then retaliated.

As for the rubbish in the "wtblock.com" 'story': "then did a double-take as
the kangaroos reappeared from behind a hill and launched a barrage of
Stinger missiles at the hapless helicopter"

People who report such rubbish without any caveat are not to be trusted.
This is not merely "urban legend" but out and out lies.

I am sick and tired of the way people report happenings in Australia and
find it insulting.

OM's post, typically, had absolutely nothing to do with sci.space.

We can get people to the Moon in five years,
not the fifteen GWB proposes.

Yup, I kind of thought it was a little too good to be true as told...on
the other hand, did you hear that story about the guy with the Camaro
and the JATO motors? You see, he got hold.... ;-)

....Oh, **** you, Alan. And here I thought I'd made the right decision
to let you out of Killfile Hell.

PLONK

Enjoy your stay, because you're *never* coming back out again...
