watching sky at night online

i have just realised i can watch episodes of the sky at night online at the
bbc,they only seem to be watchable on realplayer,i already have windows
media player & quick time & dont want to download another,is there any way
round this?

You could try the excellent freeware program Realtime alternative and
remove Windows Media player.

thanks,i dont think you can remove WMP though without delving deep into the
registry.

agreed, it uses Windows Media pLayer Classic (mplayer2.exe) and is very UNinvasive :-)

Crap isn't it. Whatever you do don't load Real Player and then let it
loose in your other libraries it will destroy everything if you have to
unload it. That's happened to me a couple of times.

(Well it was a long time later and I am not gifted with a good memory
for technical stuff.)

There was some snarl up with a registry Real Player used and when I
uninstalled it I lost a vast ammount of my music files. Ye Realle Yne
Pysser!

Wouldn't you think a company with the BBC's resources could do a lot
better? I effing hate the BBC! It's being run by morons. You write in
to complain and see where that gets you.

I believe they offer a choice though (both for Windows platforms I take
it.)

The BBC transmit all their stuff using Realplayer. You can capture the
RM stream then convert it to AVI via a variety of fairly complex
methods, but really, why not just install the BBC-ised version of
Realplayer?
