About the only difference that I could see was a longer focal length, but that's not a bad thing. I've not had any good weather yet, so haven't been able to try out the guide scope yet. hi
I have mounted an Orion ED 80 to my 8 inch lx 90 for use as a guide scope, it is a bit to heavy though the drive motors do not like it. however I have not tried it with the BC & F balance weight kit, however this may place more weight on the overloaded equatorial wedge. -- Wishing you clear dark skies Jim Vincent. www.jimsastro.com Castle Point Astronomy Club www.cpac.org.uk "dylan" wrote in message ... Good point.
I did notice that my LX-90 was more wibbly wobbly yesterday, whilst re-training it after an Autostar update. I don't think it's a major problem as it does soon dampen out. You could always stiffen up the wedge with wood - do a google search, I'm sure that you'll hit on some useful information. I use an Orion 80ED on my 10" LX200 Classic. It's a bit of a heavy
beast, but with the fast slew speed turned down a bit (4 instead of 8) there doesn't seem to be undue load on the motors and it works a charm (needed about 6lb of counterweights) It makes great imaging scope in it's own right too - especially for wider field views that the SCT can't deliver. I don't know, but I'd guess the mount and drive for an 8" SCT might struggle to swing that much additional weight about. Cheers Beats |

I've got a LX10 at present so it doesn't do a lot of slewing. Hope to replace with a 10" or 11" so hopefully the weight will be less of a problem to that. |
