It costs a lot of money to move the shuttle back to the cape. 2. It would mean that they couldn't make the next scheduled launch because they couldn't get Discovery back to the cape in time to be the rescue shuttle for that launch. I guess that statement kind of ignored the grounding due to the foam problem. I think some reporter said that there was actually a third landing window this morning at Edwards and the weather there was good, but they ignored it for the reasons specified above. IIRC, this came up shortly after the decision to miss the first landing window. -- David |
