Hi, I've got an Orange C14 that needs a mount. The budget is about
$7000 not counting portable pier. Any comparisons or other options? Thanks, Chuck |

Thanks, Chuck Why spend the money mounting an outdated SCT OTA? Why not dump it and get one of the new SCTs? The improvement in coatings alone is a good reason, if you intend to do imaging. -Rich |

If you read the ad I bought it from, you will understand why. I've
also had numerous emails about this particular Orange C14 and it's exceptional optics from people I know on the web who have no relationship with the sale before I bought it. It was inspected by Bob Goff (legendary refigurer of SCTs and a harsh critic of them and his advice was that except for a very minor refiguring of the corrector plate he would leave it alone!. I'm having the optics aligned and tested on an optical bench as we speak (I have a money back guarantee ....). I have a very nice carbon fiber C11 right now, I'm expecting a lot more from the C14. Cheers, Chuck |

Hi Rich, I will do that, I'm shopping for a mount right now (leaning
towards the Titan). Once I have it all together a comparison star party is definitely in order! Here's a link to the ad if you're interested ... http://www.astromart.com/classifieds...fied_id=309529 Chuck |

Ah yes Chuck, I see you purchased from my old friend Dave Jurasevich.
Dave's a great guy, the best! Dave helped me some years back acquiring Cases for my 1200GTO Mount. In the end, the purchase of the 1200 cases from NRG Cases turned out to be an absolute nighmare, as they turned out to be a very unstrustworthy company. The circumstances was beyond Dave's control to play any influence. Thier young son (Angus) took off to Las Vegas with my MO Payment. The cases were eventually made (In Las Vegas, not N. Hollywood CA), but not to proper spec, and then were shipped by them cross country with just a label slapped on the side of them (Assholes!) No protection whatsoever, and they were scuffed up very nicely. Then they wanted to charge me $212 for shipping charges for the two Cases! (From Nevada to Chicago) They would also not take them back, and make things right with new, proper fitting cases, without shipping damage from the UPS Gorillas all over them. After I recieved these cases, and my shipping payment was enroute to them, I quickly stopped payment on the personal check. They never recieved a dime for the shipping, and I felt that this was a somewhat "just" compensation for dropping the ball, and treating me like a nobody. Dave didn't ever have a problem with NRG, as he was local to thier Hollywood facility, and was able to monitor more closely the process of his cases made for both your C-14, and his 1200GTO Mount. Best of luck with your new "baby" Chuck! Enjoy! Mark D'Ambrosio |
