Default contemplating dark matter and energy

A few centuries ago, mankind knew nothing about many types of matter and
energy which we now understand, and which have given us great powers, for
good or bad.

So, at this time we know very little about dark matter and energy and models
about them are necessarily simple- but, isn't it likely that they are
actually very complex in structure and that when we do understand them
better we'll gain immense new powers?

I should think science fiction writers could have a field day speculating on
this- are they doing so? I haven't read sci fi in decades so I don't know
what the best are doing.

Just fantasizing, but I can imagine future being very impacted by better
understand of this stuff and not just the science of astronomy.

Interesting, but how you can contemplate dark matter?
You can contemplate only its indirect effects...

Well, 150 years ago, nobody could contemplate non visible electromagnetic
energy. What I'm suggesting is that someday we will be able to see if very
clearly, in all its complexity and then we'll be able to use it the way we
now use other forms of matter and energy that we understand.

suggesting that it may turn out this way- a vast new frontier to explore,
with new power for the naked apes of Earth.

a few centuries ago?
well okay flog a dead horse
speulate ideas and concepts.

mankind is virtuallly irrelevant.
you won, because the dinosaurs were killed off.
you barely have the ability to make a fire unless somkeone gives you a BIC
with the attached BBQ.
there is no ingrained desire of knowledge.
actually the reverse is highly noted, eve the nazi early on this page.

so considering the concept of known data
the next visitors to opur planet will be tyrannasaurus rex, looking to
gRAZE.

I'm a SciFi writer and I have not yet decided if I will include
theories of dark matter/energy yet. I did read a nice trilogy a couple
of years ago called, "Dark Matters". It is within the Star Trek Voyager
series. I can't say that I really agreed with it, I don't, but it was
the first that I had seen anyone writing about, what we really were not
yet talking about. I find the whole subject fascinating, and certainly
see the futuristic ideas of embracing they power held within dark
energy.

Sure, that stuff which makes up almost everything must hold some fantastic
secrets and powers. As a SciFi writer, you should have a field day with it.

i'd say that you'd be pretty safe writing about dark matter. as far as dark
energy goes, it is still really in the "ether" stage of it's theoretical
life.
