I recently purchased a Jessops lens cleaning kit, primarily for use with
cameras, The kit contains a pack of lens tissues, a brush and a bottle of fluid which contains isopropyl. Is any part of this kit suitable for cleaning binocular lenses, especially bearing in mind the need to take care with the coatings? Thanks, Marcus |

Thanks, Marcus I'd be very careful with IPA on good expensive multi level coatings, but as an alternative, have you thought about Opticlean ? Look at 7 Day Shop for it, it leaves a polymer film on the lens, then after it cured, you peel it off along with all the crud. I used it on my scope EPs and my Strathspeys OK. hth DH |

I'd heard of the method, but couldn't recall the name of the product. I'll give Opticlean a try. Regards, Marcus |

Hi All,
I was also interested in Opticlean and searched 7dayshop for it. I couldn't find it and an e-mail to them revealed that they no longer supply it :-(. Does anyone know where it can be obtained in the UK, or elsewhere, at a reasonable cost? Very best wishes and clear, dark skies. -- /Paul B, York, UK. http://homepages.tesco.net/paul.buglass/astrohome.htm York Astronomical Society www.yorkastro.co.uk "Marcus O'Neill" wrote in message .. . I got it from 'Calliope'. :- http://www.caliope.co.uk/ To work properly, the layer must be thick enough not to break, and cover the optical surface completely. We use it at work to clean special dichroic spectral filters, and it is superb. Best Wishes |
