Default comet discovery historical sites

I think some sort of marker or monument should be erected at any
public place from which a comet discovery was made. For example, the
place at which Vance Petriew discovered comet P/2001 Q2 while at the
Saskatchewan Star Party in August 2001, or the place near Cloudcroft,
New Mexico where Alan Hale first spotted C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp).

Does anyone know of any such marker indicating the location from which
a comet discovery was made (other than ones, of course in permanent,
fixed observatories)?

That's a great idea. It'd be a wonderful tribute to the observer and
amateur astronomy in general.
