Default Source of secondary mirrors?

hi

anyone know where I can get a secondary mirror for a 12' F5 Dob? I've
been a complete idiot and managed to scratch mine!

Is it a haze of fine scratches? Or is it one or two coarse scratches
that have scuffed the underlying glass?

If the first, get it re-silvered; if the second, paint out the scratch(es)
with matt black paint. It is surprising the amount of apparent
scratching which doesn't cut through the glass surface, BTW.

If they are plane flat mirrors then there are always surface-silvered
mirrors in scrapped photo-copiers, laser printers and shop counter type bar
code scanners.

You might try Beacon Hill or SCS Astro.

Hi Gaz and folks,

For odds and ends for telescopes try my mate Barry Watts of Beacon Hill
Telescopes on 01472 692 959.
He has an excellent reputation for helpful advice and genuine service.

You may have to try several times during the day since he's so busy.

Good luck,

Paul
