Default collimating a helios refractor?

Hi,
are there any good webpages that describe the collimation process for a
helios refractor? Ive got the eye peice but dont know how to use it properly

Let's start at the beginning: why do you think it needs collimating? The
reason I ask is that it probably shouldn't.

Put the star diagonal (right-angled thingummyjig that seems to have a
mirror inside) into the telescope's focuser, then put the eyepiece into
the diagonal. This should enable you to get an image of a distant
object. Do not expect to be able to focus on close objects.

Hi,

thanks for the reply, its just that ive never checked it, and its nice to
know your getting the best out of your scope, are scopes nearly always set
up ok at the factory?

Do a star test to check it. Basic details in the tutorial section of my
web site.
