Inquiry needed
"The Sun and the moon rotate on their own axes...The purpose of this motion is to confer motion on the planets located around them;on the six primary planets in the case of the Sun,and on the moon in the case of the Earth. On the other hand the moon does not rotate on the axis of its own body,as its spots prove " Kepler
When Newton read Kepler's Somnium,he mistook revolution for rotation hence the ridiculously comical idea of a spinning moon - http://books.google.ie/books?id=OdCJ...ge&q&f=fa lse When Kepler uses the term 'revolution' he means orbital motion and it is deplorable that even today the followers of Newton still insist the moon spins for no other reason than Sir Isaac couldn't read the astronomical treatise of Kepler properly. The video by NASA is obscene and should be to any reasonable person - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exIpL0Uhr_k This is not about disproving an awful notion of a spinning moon, this is actually an issue of the orbital behavior of a planet like the Earth which does turn once to the central Sun by virtue of its orbital motion but this view is obscured with the flawed view of the Earth 'tilting' towards the Sun in summer and tilting away from the Sun in winter or any other awkward view based on that theme. A society that believes the moon spins is not dysfunctional,it is worse - it is dystopian. |

Inquiry needed
That should read -
"The Sun and the Earth rotate on their own axes...The purpose of this motion is to confer motion on the planets located around them;on the six primary planets in the case of the Sun,and on the moon in the case of the Earth. On the other hand the moon does not rotate on the axis of its own body,as its spots prove " Kepler This theme was picked up by Wallis in his remarkable letter to Boyle and 23 years before the Principia but even allowing for its inaccuracies and shortcomings,at least empiricists at that time understood the moon doesn't spin unlike Sir Isaac who was careless at interpreting Kepler. http://rstl.royalsocietypublishing.o...2/263.full.pdf In short,to have a proper inquiry with far reaching consequences requires individuals who can not only admit things have gone badly astray but also why it is exceptionally important. |
