Default Lens for a refractor

My daughter wants to build a low power refractor. Does anyone have
suggestions of who to buy the lens from?

I just got a 80mm x 400mm objective from www.surplusshed.com

I've heard good things about them in the past, and this is my first
transaction with them. Remember that these are surplus optics, but that
just makes it a bit more of an adventure.

Good luck

I second Surplus Shed. I've dealt with them a couple of times
(114mm surplus Meade Newt optics and a 60mm Cooke Triplet
objective) and found them to be forthright about what they sell
and reliable. For the DIYer on the cheap, this is a good place
with which to deal, IMO.

American science and surplus can be good sometimes, but nothing
particularly great seems to be in stock right now. I managed to pick up
a 280mm fl F4.5 photocopier lens assembly a while back which created a
pretty convenient low power telescope.

Another vendor with some refractor optics is Apogee Inc.
