It's a falling star!

It's a meteor!

It's an asteroid!

Wrong. The firey object falling to earth is none of those.

It's...it's...RUSH LIMBAUGH.

Well, some of us knew he was a big phoney all along. I remember the
unkind words he had for people with such "weak will" that they would
allow themselves to become addicted to drugs.

Let's see...if we go by Rush's own advice for handling illegal drug
users, Rush will be spending some time in the pokey. Of course, I'm
sure he has softened his views on that issue, a bit.

But he's a multi-millionaire and he will buy his way out of trouble.
Jeb Bush will probably give him a pardon anyway.

Yeah, it's off-topic. But I think there are enough in the SAA crowd
interested in Rush's fate to bring it up.

Another word for phony is "hypocrite." I can deal with that, however;
after all, lying and hypocrisy are the very foundations of the
so-called conservative movement. It's the hatred and mean spiritedness
that bother me. Hate the handicapped, hate the poor, hate the AIDS
victims, hate the Jews, hate the gays, hate those who are ill with drug
addiction, hate the people of color, hate the immigrants...

Yeah, it's off-topic. But I think there are enough in the SAA crowd

I don't wish ill on any man, including Rush Limbaugh. I wish him a
speedy and full recovery, and a new outlook on life.

Right, and another name for hyprocrite is Democrate. People like you
invented lying and hyprocrisy, so why are you pinning it on the conservative
movement?

Yeah, it's off-topic. But I think there are enough in the SAA crowd

Glad you wish Rush well, I do too. I believe Rush will beat this addiction
and be back stronger than ever.

I wouldn't normally respond to an off-topic posting, but...

(1) Limbaugh has long been proud of his addiction to tobacco (the gateway
drug).

(2) Please don't equate all conservatives with Limbaugh's crowd.

(3) Please note that it is wrong to accuse people of "hate" (or other
serious faults) without substantial evidence. Plenty of conservatives don't
hate anybody.

Rush was proud of his addiction to food until it became apparent that
it was going to kill him. His addiction to drugs is illegal, so he
could not make jokes about it.

It's understandable, since "Limbaugh's" people are the ones making all
the noise. BTW, Limbaugh's people are pretty much the same crowd as
Pat Robertson's, Ralph Reed's, Randall Terry's...

Do you think it wrong to accuse people of "hate" after they make
comments like the following?

Randall Terry, one of the darling conservatives, said himself, that
hate and intolerance are good things. He suggested that Christians
let a wave of hate wash over them when facing their enemies--the
liberals. I accuse Terry of hate, and apparently he has confessed.

"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want
you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good...Our
goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by
God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want
pluralism."--Randall Terry, Founder of Operation Rescue, The
News-Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 8-16-93

In referring to doctors who perform abortions, Terry said, "When I, or
people like me, are running the country, you'd better flee, because we
will find you, we will try you, and we'll execute you. I mean every
word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they
are tried and executed."

Bailey Smith, a founding father of Robertson's Christian Coalition,
once told 15,000 people at a Religious Roundtable briefing in Dallas,

does not hear the prayer of a Jew." --Petersburg Times, June 26, 1994

Randall Terry,

Limbaugh is not Terry. That you resorted to finding something Terry
said, shows that you had trouble finding Limbaugh saying something
similar. Some of the more clever Limbaugh critics (which isn't saying
much) say that Limbaugh uses coded language, i.e., that he doesn't say
what they claim he says, but really that's what he means. (yeah,
right)

That you said this shows that you did not pay attention to what either
Michael or myself had stated. I did not look for any quotes from
Rush.

Michael cautioned that it was wrong to accuse *people* of hate, not
that I said anything about anybody hating anybody--I didn't, and in
response I quoted what some *people* (conservative people) had said.
*Hateful* things. I did not accuse Rush of hate, I only said that
Rush was a phoney. Michael wanted to point out that most
conservatives don't hate anybody, which might lead one to the notion
that Michael thinks Rush is hateful, although he may have been
referring to Davoud's coment about the "hatred and mean spiritedness"
of the conservative movement. And there IS plenty of that in the
conservative movement, granted, from a loud minority, but you do not
see the majority trying to distance themselves from the likes of
Terry. Just like there is a lot of whining from a small section of
the liberal side.

Again, to point out your error, as I said, I did not accuse Rush of
hating anybody. I don't think he does. He is a liar, though, and he
knows what his radio listeners want to hear and he has no problem
telling them that, true or not, for which he has been making upwards
of $25 million per year. Rush's audience wants to hear, for instance,
that illegal drug users deserve to be in prison, and that tobacco and
alcohol consumtion is not such a *bad thing.* Of course he also
knows, but does not mention, that those two "drugs" are far more
costly to American society than all the pot, coke, smack, speed, etc.
put together. In my opinion, if Rush goes to prison, he will be
getting what he deserves, not necessarily for his drug abuse, but for
what he's been saying about others who have had drug "problems" that
pale in comparison to his own.

And by the way, Rush has *said* some hateful things, but, being a
liar, it does not mean he is hateful. He's just saying what the red
necks out there in Radio Land want to hear. True, nothing Rush has
said can hold a candle to what Terry and a handful of television
evangelists say daily. Rush has also said some very, very STUPID
things, not that he actually believes what he's saying.

Would you like an example of Rush's stupid remarks? After Al Gore
wrote his book, "Earth in the Balance," Rush (on his TV show) tore out
a page from the book and wrapped a bit of hamburger in it. He then
set it down on the floor and brought out a small dog. The dog was
offered the hamburger/paper wad. The dog did not eat. Rush then
says, "See, even this little dog won't swallow a single page of Al's
new book." (quote is approximate) Some might have seen this as
entertaining or even witty--it *looked* stupid to me. It *was*
stupid.

You might also note that Rush NEVER debates anybody, and his audiences
are screened and not allowed to speak out. Rush cannot defend much of
what he says, and he knows it. He's a phoney. He is a liar. I never
said he was hateful.

It's been known for a long time that the hate and disdain the average
liberial holds for a particular conservative is a true measure of that
individual's importance and success. Rush must be very important indeed, as
the only individual whom the libs hate more is George W. Bush.

There are three things wrong with that comment, Al.

First, it has not been known "for a long time" nor is it true. Or
were you using tongue-in-cheek rhetoric?

Second, Rush is not important, he is a clown, and liberals know it
even if conservatives think he's Christ II.

Third, Rush's lies have not resulted in any wars, unlike Bush's lies.
And Bush did lie, that is a fact, admitted to by Bush himself, even if
he has not yet admitted to ALL his lies. "Libs" are amused by Rush,
maybe even disgusted, but they've no reason to hate him. On the other
hand, it is possible that Rush's lies helped get Bush elected, so who
knows for sure?

http://www.commondreams.org/views02/1028-04.htm

A google search for "Limbaugh's lies" returned some seven thousand
hits.

A search for "Bush's lies" netted nearly seven million.

Bubba's lies were good for only 800,000, btw.
