nightbat Only 700 miles from Miami I was waiting for news of a
tidal wave sweeping across.No high groud in Florida. 7 is v ery strong
when its taking place right under your feet.People were safe in their
tiny huts,and not in those concrete buildings. Went through two quakes
living in the LA area.They come as a big surprise,but in a second you
know what is happening and run for the street. Bert

The images of damaged structures indicated little if any steel rebar
or even other natural fiber content. So why shouldn't they fall down?

Where in structural engineering (other than pyramids) is naked
stacking of cinder blocks or even raw(fiberless)/non-reinforced
concrete usage allowed?
