Hello all,
I'm sorry if this question is out of place here, but I have no idea where to look. I'm looking for a way to calculate the time of sunrise and sunset given a UTC date & time and a set of coordinates. I don't care about a specific programming language, as long as I can figure out the formulae behind the thing. Thanks in advance, -- Martijn @ Coppoolse .com |

"Practical Astronomy with your Calculator" by Duffett-Smith is probably the
book you're looking for. It's the simplest approach of many books on the subject (which is called "spherical astronomy" or "practical astronomy"). "M?ht?n" wrote in message om... Thanks in advance, -- Martijn @ Coppoolse .com At one point, there was such a file by s.a.a. contributor Paul Schlyter in Bob Stout's C SNIPPETS (www.snippets.org), but I can't seem to locate it anymore. If you can't locate it any other way, email me and I send a copy I have to you, from an older version of SNIPPETS. It's about 500 lines, or I'd just post it here. -- -- Len Philpot - -- ------ ----- http://philpot.org/ -- |

Sky & Telescope published a BASIC language program for computing times of sunrise and sunset. I believe that it was called SUNUP.BAS, and should be available for download from the S&T site: http://skyandtelescope.com/resources...icle_326_1.asp The program was from August 1994. |
