Default Places to watch sky with family in the Bay Area ...

Folks,

I am a novice, so please be kind if the question is a naive one. I'd
also appreciate if you redirect me to the right group.

I wanted to know the safe places in and around the Bay Area, California
to watch the sky (beginning with the good old Moon!). Is there a list
of such places available somewhere on the Net?

In particular, note that the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland,
mentioned in the above, in addition to educational facilities has Friday
and Saturday evening public viewing through their 8, 20, and 35 inch
telescopes as well as private amateur telescopes set up by volunteers on
the sky observation plaza. Very good for beginning amateur astronomers
and fun for established amateur astronomers.
