My telescope isn't full of money. I don't think _that_ girl would be interested....

Cute girl huh?

That reminds me, I think we should invent a substance that can act as a
lady attractant and spray it Liberally on a telescope tube. Perhaps
then we can have more female observers in astronomy clubs?

Reminds me when I asked John Dobson what he thought we can do to
attract women to amateur astronomy....

I'm still waiting for a good answer though

If we find that thing a cute girl, we don't have a chance.

But if you do that, a female scientist will invent a man attractant and then
women will spray it liberally on ironing boards... ;-)

Don't all telescopes sound like that when you move them up and down?

You don't? My local club and most of the clubs I visit these days have
a decent percentage of female observers. If you don't, maybe y'all need
to take a hard look at the way things are done. Beer shotgun contests
following the meetings are not generally a good way to attract (all)
women. ;-)

I'm not certain that Mr. Murray is interested in attracting females as
/observers/ ;--)

The Howard Astronomical League http://www.howardastro.org has a
number of skilled female astronomers, including one woman who is can
point her Dob to damned near any Messier, Herschel, or NGC object with
the same ease as you can point to your kitchen table. And then she'll
produce a beautiful drawing of the object and make you wonder why you
spent all that money on cameras...

But it would be good to have more female members. Females, after all,
possess /at/ /least/ half of the intelligence in the world.

Rod,

You guys live in the South, perhaps that has something to do with it?
Northern girls just don't quite behave the way southern girls do.
