The ones with a single adjustable rod and no weight are almost impossible to keep on what you're trying to look at. High power figures are "puffed-up" and the real usable power is around 250 to 300. Of the two I would pick the 420 x 76. Save your money for a good scope ($500-$1,200) down the road. H.J. (you get what you pay for in scopes) |

They are both Trashco scopes, one mostlikly a refactor the other a reflector
both with extra shaky tripods. To buy them you might as well go throw your money out in the street becase you'll get nothing but trash and sucker bait. -- There are those who believe that life here, began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans, who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltechs, or the Mayans. Some believe that they may yet be brothers of man, who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens. it's not even good enough to show the kids the moon and say "ooh" and maybe
find something else to look at if we get lucky? "Starlord" wrote in message . .. They are both Trashco scopes, one mostlikly a refactor the other a reflector both with extra shaky tripods. I am a major Sidewalk astronomer and I've had people bring their scopes to
me and the normal "Department Store" scope should be driven the the dump and added to it. Off all of them I took one home and spent the better part of a week adding suports and other stuff to make it useable and even the the moon was about all it could see good. A good small Dob is 100% better. -- There are those who believe that life here, began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans, who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltechs, or the Mayans. for the moon a pair of binos can do the job, I use 3 sets myself, 10 x 50's
will give you super images of the moon. In the world of telescopes, there is no such thing as the word cheap, even my home made scope I have cost me clost to $500 to make it. -- There are those who believe that life here, began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans, who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltechs, or the Mayans.
