Default Which IMAX Film Do You Like Better and Why?

In article ,
says...
OK, suppose I have a choice of two IMAX films to see after a lectu

1. Roving Mars
2. Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D

Which would you pick and why?

Who is the audience?

I've seen and enjoyed both of these movies in the past year. They are
targeted at very different audiences.

The goal of Magnificent Desolation is to encourage a sense of wonder and
awe in today's kids about what happened during Apollo. It does this as
well as any movie can. Far better than any other movie has. This is in
part due to the technology (kids love 3-D IMAX). In greater part, it is
because of very well crafted use of this technology by someone who is
love with what Apollo acomplished (Tom Hanks -- remember him as CMP in
the Apollo 13 movies?). In even greater part, it is because of someone
who understands how to make best artistic use of this technology
(producer Tom Hanks, who is responsible for the truly wonderful Polar
Express -- the best IMAX movie ever.)

And suppose it was after a lecture by someone who went to the Moon? Would
that change things?

Not really. A lot of Roving Mars went above the heads of the kids in the
audience when I saw it at the Boston Museum of Science. Frankly, it was
above the heads of many parents. To get the best out of this movie, you
have to have a bit of understanding of modern science.

This movie is aimed at the same target audience that watches Nova on TV.
That audience will appreciate the sense of exploration and discovering
things no one ever knew before through your lecturer and those cute
little rolling Martian robots.

I haven't seen either of them yet so I have no opinion.

You should see both. Those of us who care enough to hang out in
sci.space will enjoy both.

It's a shame that Nova is no longer targeted at that audience.

Lately, it seems more like nothing much more than an excercise in
modern TV production, which could be condensed into a five minute
lecture. I found that recent "Universe" series nearly unwatchable.
