On some of the video of the shuttle before launch, there appeared to be alot of debris flying around. Any idea what that was? I thought maybe birds but it looked like alot of white specks being blown around by the wind. Probably waves breaking on the water in the background. |

It looked just like a bunch of paper being blown around by the wind on both the left and right side of the shuttle (but back in the distance.) Probably the "butcher paper" that covers the RCS nozzles to prevent rain getting in while on the pad. I saw them flapping around the nozzles in the nose RCS in some of the views prior to launch.
