Default Astro Photo question

The guy who stopped by last night, tried to take some photos of the moon via
my scope. Now, I've not really gotten into astro photos, thus the question.
He was using a hand held dig-slr(if you call a pop-open viewscreen slr) and
he had set it on mirco, all I think he got was good close ups of the inside
of the scope, I don't thing he ever got a clear image of the moon. Is there
a way for someone to shoot threw the ep and get an image?

Myself I stick to my good old Topcon Super D and the ton of film I've got
frozen in my freezer.
