He wasn't really in the loop as VP. That has since changed, largely
because of the situation he found himself in upon FDR's death. But
I'm sure he was up to speed on how the war was going and what
our tactics generally were, even though he wasn't really kept briefed
enough to step in at a moment's notice. Turned out that he did OK.

Now the VP is so in the loop, they have to hide him
