Running it on this Mac, and seems to be a bit jazzier than the one I had
installed. OS X 10.4.4 was also released today.

Not entirely- the program will work with dialup, it just takes a long
time to get the data. Not very practical if you want to use if for
exploring the planet, but okay as a tool for coverage of limited areas.

My experience, too, on an iBook. Much carping in the Mc newsgroups
about it not having the "look and feel" of a Mac app. I'm just happy to
have it without going to my PC desktop.

Not surprising. There is a lot of data being tranferred with Google Earth.

OK, Linux is great. You need it, you love it, you can't live without
it. That's fine. But where does it say that you have to run /only/
Linux? You can run Linux and Windows on a standard Wintel box and
Linux, Mac OS, and Windows on a new Mac.
