Default camera tracker for economic nova hunt

I've outlined at

http://home.freeuk.com/m.gavin/tracker.htm

some ideas for tracking a camera directly along the galactic plane for an economic survey of the Milky Way and potential nova via a digital camera which seems the preferred way nowadays. Feedback appreciated.
