I am new to astronomy and I am using a 5 year old Meade Saturn
telescope. I viewed the moon last night with a 12.5mm and then with a 2xbarlow. The 12.5 view was good, so I decided to get more detail. Unfortunately, it seems that with the Barlow, the view is too detailed- similar to looking under a microscope. Suggestions for getting the best detailed view of the moon? Also, I live in the northeast US in new England. Suggestions for other sky viewing? Bruce |

Suggestions for getting the best detailed view of the moon? Maybe a Televue Nagler - widefield. They are not cheap though. http://www.astronomics.com/main/Tele...talog_name/Ast ronomics/category_name/J47RNV0QRTWL8H2M5GU9BTKTW4/Page/1 Also, I live in the northeast US in new England. Suggestions for other sky viewing? Mars is still reasonably positioned in the evening. Saturn after midnight. For other stuff check out the Messier catalogue. klazmo Bruce |

First of all, Back Off on the power, the higher the power the smaller area
you will see and if there's any air movement the worst of seeing will be. That 12.5 ep is about as high as you may want to go, I use a 17mm for most of mine, but with full moon I stack a light blue and a moon filter and get good images without the glair. This is winter time, M45, M42, Saturn, and many other objects are out there. Get either a copy of Astronomy or Sky & Telescope magazine, they have pull out star maps in the center and articles that can point you to some good objects. -- The Lone Sidewalk Astronomer of Rosamond Telescope Buyers FAQ http://home.inreach.com/starlord Astronomy Net Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/astronomy_net In Garden Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/ingarden Blast Off Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/starlords "brucegooglegroups" wrote in message oups.com...
