Hi:

Any of these telescope is easily transported and assembled by one
(average) person. The 9.25 is probably the easiest, since it can be
broken down into tube/mount/tripod. The GEM mount is probably the most
difficult for beginners to get going. The CPC, of all three probably
has the best balance of ease of transport and ease of setup/use.

9.25, EQ mount. Those CPC mounts are like---like---hell, they're like
puttin' an automatic transmission in a pickup truck.
It just ain't raht, heah?
The EQ mount will do it all visually. If you want to stick a Digital
SLR in that 9.25" scope some day, I think you'll find it easier with
the EQ mount. No field rotation issues, some periodic error, but
managable. There are worse choices at any rate.
I tossed my synta mount and upgraded to Losmandy GM8. Now I want to
upgrade to AP. ;-)

Hey Unka-Bob...

Try a G-11 first. The 925 on the G-11 is like a rock, and it can handle a
C11 too.

Be sure that your back can handle the G11 before you buy it. I use a GM8
with my C9.25 because the G11 is just to damn heavy.

Never lift what you can roll.

Of course, it helps having a private home with a garage on a half acre or
more under reasonable skies.

Or even better, a permanent roll-off-roof observatory.

Steven, I'm a previous G-11 owner. A finer mount I never owned. Just
too freekin' heavy for my 55 year old back discs.
I think a G-11 can handle a C-14 too. Mine hosted a Takahashi 102,
which was overkill, I guess. :-) But it shore wuz stable.

Clear skies!
Uncle Bob
