There was a post here about seeing nothing but rocks from the rovers
for a long while now. Well, a bit of space history in the making -- reaching the first summit on another planet. Spirit is near or at the top of Husband Hill. Yeah, there are more rocks. But also a *wow* view, with a *big* dust devil caught in the picture. Link in one of the unmannedspaceflight forums shows a stitched panorama from the navigation cameras. Enjoy. http://www.greuti.ch/spirit/spirit_navcam_sol581.jpg |

picture of the first two raising the US Flag in the same manner as the
taking of Mount Surabachi on Iwo Jima It would help if the mountain was U.S. territory, under current law this flag is more reflective of our submissive posture. http://spacebombardment.blogspot.com...y-lyndons.html |
