dob 8"

Hi

does anyone have first hand experience of the Revelation 8" dob
available from telescope house

- how does it compare optically/mechanically with an orion xt8
(ignoring the orion intelliscope stuff which I'm not interested in)

It looks remarkably similar to the GSO Dob sold by Teleskop-Service (a
German dealer with a good reputation) for 498 Euros, so £230 is a very
good price.

I believe Orion's Dob is made by Synta. I have a Sky-Watcher (Synta) 8"
Dob which is perfectly satisfactory, but could benefit from a Crayford
focuser and a cooling fan. GSO (Taiwan) are said to be better quality
than Synta (China). My Dob cost £320 (inc delivery) a couple of years
ago.
